Quiz results

I recently made one of those online quizzes to see how well people know me, and I must say I had quite a bit of fun with it. So much fun, in fact, that I made an Excel spreadsheet to analyze the results: 1) because I am a nerd, 2) because I wanted to see what people really think about me, 3) because I'm a nerd. If you haven't taken the quiz, you can do that here, but you should probably do that before you read on.

First, a little about the quiz: I tried to make it pretty balanced, to cover many aspects of my life and even different time periods. It was made to reward those who have known me for a while and those who have known me in more than one dimension. It was made to be tricky, but not hard (7 of the answers could be found on this blog or facebook if you were resourceful).

For the final results, I threw out all of the anonymous results and those who took it twice. I was pretty surprised by the outcome. The average score was 48.75% which was a lot lower than I expected. The almost everyone knew what I studied in college that I hope to go to seminary. Most knew when I became a Christian and my favorite thing to do on Friday nights, but past that the drop off was huge. I found it interesting that there was a large percentage (58.33%) who thought I would like to live in Warsaw the most. That would have actually been third out of the possible answers (and probably not my 1st choice in Poland).

So what does it all mean? Why the low scores? That is the extra credit question I want to give you. I can be very reserved at times. While I know that it's not always good to share your life story with just anyone, sometimes I wonder if I limit my relationships with friends by being too reserved. What do you think? How open is too open? Should I open up to people more? I'd really like your honest opinion. You can email your answers to me here, and I will adjust your quiz score accordingly. :)

Hey Jon,

This is just my own opinion, but I wouldn't take the scores too too much to heart. For my part, as I took your quiz I forgot some of the little details that you may have revealed during some of our conversations but after seeing the answers had a few "ah-ha!" moments. You can't pour out your inner guts to everyone you spend time with. But I would say that it's good to have a select few that know you well, and remember those little details. And from what I know of you, Jon, you have those people. Plus only you can answer whether or not you feel like you're too closed off, etc. Okay?
